Too late to join in?

February 24, 2007

Over at ThreadWacth, the daily updated seo news website, there is a seo contest going for the keyword combination Dave Pasternack, this time of writing is February 24th 2007, when I noticed this thread about the seo contest. At the moment there are about 360,000 results in Google.com for the term Dave Pasternack. With only 4 days to go I decided to join in this competition with my blog odproject.org.

I’ve created a webpage for Dave Pasternack with some detailed information about this person and the seo competition, when getting on the first page in Google for Dave Pasternack you’ll recieve one thousand dollars from Aaron Wall over at threadwatch.

In comparison to another seo contest going about globalwarming awareness2007 this contest from Threadwatch gained less attention in the webmasters forums, but anyway interesting to see what happens.

Interesting indeed. Your page is search spam, polluting the SERP with irrelevant results that create bad user experiences, harm Google, and ultimately harm yourself. Vote for relevance by linking either to my bio page or to the New Yorker article about the chef so that searchers looking for “dave pasternack” will be presented with their desired result.

Thank you for your comment Dave, but as I read at the ThreadWatch website:

Threadwatch has decided to get on the SEO contest bandwagon. Whoever ranks #1 in Google for Dave Pasternack at noon Eastern on March 1st, 2007 wins $1,000 from Threadwatch. In addition to the $1,000 prize for the top ranking site, Threadwatch will also give away $100 to the most interesting PPC ad running at that time, as voted for by our editors.

This is just what I am doing, nothing more nothing less.

It is never said that the contest page should link to your website or any other website.

I believe you have to take it up with ThreadWatch, they picked the keyword for this contest.

Got something to say?
