Wordpress and browsehappy, never noticed it…
January 29, 2007
Just was moderating my searchenginegaze blog and scrolled down in the backend of my wordpress powered blog when I noticed the button ’switch today and browse happy’. I clicked the button..
How did I ever have missed this button?? Or wasn’t it there before?
Hmm.. Okay did some resource and found out it was already a part of wordpress community from june the 1st 2005. And the offical release from wordpress here.
So what´s the big deal you might ask? When you open this browsehappy website a big line of text appears saying: “Internet Explorer can make your computer unsafe. Why not switch to a browser that’s more secure?”
It seems this website encourages you to switch from IE to FireFox, Mozilla, Opera or Safari. A direct threat to the unsafe IE browser from Microsoft. People can join the website and give their comments on the browsers they are using. Seems nice.. But then I noticed the big adsense browse button on the firefox page. That should bring in some bucks:)
Suddenldy it hit me.. I’m on the internet using my girlfriends laptop with an IE browser. That’s why I’ve never seen that button, other computer browsing with firefox (of course).
So today’s message is switch to an safer browser with firefox!
